Gail Robertson

Art with Cultural Meaning...

Gail attended the Marchutz School in Aix en Provence, France and the Art Students League in New York.

Gail then traveled the world to get a feel for what different cultures had to contribute to her art and developed a vision of colors and shapes.  After her travels the colors of the Ivory Coast kept popping up in every painting style she chose.

While doing research on the Middle Passage and Slave Trade, Gail decided to indulge in abstract collage.  The resulting collage series was exhibited at the NBAF in the summer of 2004.  The Armistead experience of the travel from the Africas to the Americas was captured in the collage collection of the Middle Passage.  Thanks to the Fulton County Arts Council of Atlanta, the exhibition can be seen locally in one of the Fulton County Government Buildings.

Gail has participated in exhibits in Inman Park, the Urban Market, Virginia Highlands, NBAF, and numerous commissioned jobs and gallery displays throughout Atlanta.  Gail has worked with the Fulton Country Arts Council teaching art at its Summer Arts Camp Program.

Gail continues to work from her home gallery and travel the world developing new techniques through residencies and workshops.
